Gex 3
Cheats & Codes

Sony Playstation 1998

Gex 3D

I recently grabbed my second copy of Gex Enter The Gecko on Sony PlayStation. If you are unfamiliar with Gex the series has been around since 1995 and is a platformer video game. Enter the Gecko being the third in the series and was released in 1999.

It features a wisecracking gecko named Gex as the main character, who navigates through various levels and worlds to defeat enemies and collect treasures. Now I grew up with the PAL version which had an English voice actor and now I’m revisitng it with the NTSC version which has Dana Gould who also appeared on the Simpsons. The game is known for its quirky humor and challenging gameplay, and it has become a cult classic among fans of retro gaming.

To be fair it’s an amazing game that these days I revisit with cheats since I want to 100% complete it in as quicker time as possible. Which means we need Gex Enter The Gecko Cheats & Secrets!

Enter The Gecko –  Levels

Having jumped back into the game now in my 40’s Gex Enter The Gecko has some of the most amazing level design spanning across a total of 24 levels, each with its own unique theme and challenges. The levels are spread across several different worlds, such as a haunted mansion, a futuristic city, and a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Now on average, How Long To Beat shows it takes around 10-15 hours to complete the game. Which I think is hogwash as I get to drop roughly an hour a night on the game and finding the secret remotes and unlocking all the secret TV’s on my time is going to take longer then 10-15 hours.

The Full list of levels:

  1. Out of Toon
  2. Smellraiser
  3. Rezoned
  4. Titanic Toddler
  5. Mao Tse Tongue

5 Hardest Levels To Beat In Gex Enter The Gecko

Having now finished the game again love it Gex Enter The Gecko is probably in my top 10 games on Sony PlayStation. Here are my top 5 hardest levels:

“The Matrix” – This level takes place in a virtual reality world and is known for its tricky platform jumping and enemy attacks. The level is also quite long, which can make it especially challenging for players.

“Gexzilla” – In this level, players must battle a giant monster while avoiding falling debris and other obstacles. The monster is quite tough to defeat, and the level requires precise timing and skill to complete.

“Circuit Central” – This level takes place in a futuristic city and is known for its difficult platforming sections and tricky enemy placements. The level is also quite long and can be frustrating to navigate.

“Rocket Channel” – This level takes place in a space station and features a lot of platform jumping and enemy attacks. The level also has a timer, which can make it difficult to explore thoroughly and find all the secrets.

“The Channel Z” – This level takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and is known for its difficult platforming sections and tricky enemy placements. The level also has a lot of hazards, such as toxic waste and collapsing buildings.

Now all levels have their pain points but these stood out to me as the top five! I’m going to dive into Gex-64 next so keep an eye out!

Game Bugs & Glitches

Having spent about 30 hours behind the controller of Gex Enter The Gecko there are some game bugs and glitches that I really did forget that made gameplay anooying at times.

The most notorious glitches in Gex 3 is the “Deadly Surf” glitch, which can occur in the level “Toon TV.” This glitch causes the player to get stuck in a loop of being killed by a wave and respawning in the same location, making it impossible to progress through the level.

But one thing that continues to show up in every level is camera glitches. WTF! Seriously almost game breaking for me at times. Not being able to see when I am running to the right and falling off a wall especially on the Haunted Mansion TV. Painful.

While glitches can be frustrating, they can also be exploited to the player’s advantage. For example, the “Infinite Lives” glitch can make the game much easier to beat, while the “Deadly Surf” glitch can be avoided by using a specific route through the level.
